HOW TO BUY THE RIGHT SHOES
One of the terms that you may not be familiar with that is used in the shoe business is
pronation. You may hear this term from salesmen who are familiar with shoes, probably in
specialty shoe shops.
PRONATION actually refers to your
ankle rolling inward with each step you
take. In some people their ankle rolls to
the outside. This is referred to as
SUPINATION.
If you have a low/flat arch you generally
over-pronate and that means you wear
out the outside heel and inside forefoot.
On the other hand, If you under-pronate
you wear out the outer heel edge and
little toe. Understanding your pronation
will help in selecting the right shoe for
your feet.
Our feet expand as we put weight on
them, it is preferable to buy shoes in the
evening when you have been on your feet during the day.
Regardless of all the scientific stuff used to describe shoe buying the main factor which all shoe buyers should consider is comfort. When
buying shoes try them with the socks that you usually wear. Don't just slip on the shoe to see if it fits in the store. Walk on it to check if the
shoe feels comfortable. If they are not comfortable in the store then they will not be comfortable later. Don't expect the shoe to expand or
shrink later.
Many parents buy kids shoes perhaps half a size bigger. The idea being that they will grow into them fast. This can harm your child's feet.
Buying Shoes for Children
Special care should be taken when buying children's shoes. Many children tend to say that a shoe fits fine if they like the appearance of the
shoe. Parents need to impress upon their children that wearing shoes that do not fit perfectly can result in severe foot problems.
